FAQ QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Where should a freestanding microwave be placed in a kitchen?
• Over the range. This is a classic choice, especially in smaller kitchens.
• On an upper shelf.
• On a lower shelf.
• Built in with a trim kit.
• In combination with a wall oven.
• In a drawer.
• HIDDEN In a cabinet.
What is the most important part of a microwave oven?
The waveguide is a component of the microwave that guides the microwaves through the food while also not allowing them to escape, which is an important safety feature. The waveguide is a hollow metal tube that transmits and directs the waves produced by the magnetron towards the cooking cavity
Can a freestanding microwave be built in?
Not all microwaves can be built-in as they are available in either freestanding or built-in models. We recommend that you install built-in microwaves into a cabinet, but if you do wish to install a freestanding model as a built-in we have built-in trim kits that allow you to do so.
Can you put a regular microwave in a cabinet?
A microwave oven, designed exclusively for a kitchen countertop, has vents that are built into the back of the microwave. If installed into a cabinet, these vents will be blocked and unable to release steam from the microwave. Talk about a fire hazard for your kitchen.
What is the minimum distance from stove to microwave oven?
If your microwave is installed above the range, the manufacturer will recommend that you keep a distance of at least thirteen inches between the base of the microwave and the top of the stove. But some manufacturers might call for this distance to be a minimum of eighteen inches.
Can I put a freestanding microwave oven in a cupboard?
It is safe to place a freestanding microwave oven in a cupboard as long as you have checked the microwave ovens space requirements with the manufacturer. Microwave ovens need a certain amount of space around themselves to ensure proper ventilation and that nothing in your cupboard ends up catching fire.
